＊To whom do the "me" and "you" refer to? の前後どちらかの　to は冗語です。native でもこの様な文法的な破格は多発します。日本語の、馬から落馬する、後で後悔する、などの用法に同じですが、意味としては却って通じやすい表現でもあります。人間の頭脳は情報を冗長させて繰り返さないと正しく理解されないところが確かにありますので、この様な冗語表現が一律に悪いと言うのも間違いでしょう。

A non-finite clause with before + ing-form is more  formal:

＊before は〜以前に（その時間は含めない）で、by は〜までに（その時間を含む）、の違いがあります。

＊2016年公開の映画 『世界一キライなあなたに』 の原題は ME  BEFORE  YOU ですが、 before を場所の前置詞と取れば、君の前のオレ、或いは貴方の前の私 （いつも顔を合わせている）、ですが、時間の前置詞なら、君に会う前のオレ、貴方に会う前の私 （互いに大きく変わる事が出来た）、或いは、君より先にオレが、などと多義的に解釈可能です。タイトルに曖昧性を持たせて読者の注意を惹きつけるのも作家の力量でしょう。

＊just. immediately, shortly, long + before で副詞用法になります。後ろに名詞を取れば before は前置詞扱いになります。

　文章中に於いて既に述べたことに言及する場合は before ではなく above を用います。

＊before 同様に利用出来ますが、口語的色彩の強い表現ですので、formal な書き言葉では使用を控えた方が良いでしょう。
