様々な意味がありますが、この場合は

＊極めて多用される表現ですが、

　Ａが先に起き、次いでＢが起きた、と英文の流れ通りに即座に＜脳内瞬時同時通訳＞して下さい。

　と割り切るのも良いでしょう
