(seeing as, seeing as how は informal)

・considering or accepting the fact that; inasmuch as; as,since because

　事実を考察すると、事実を受け入れれば、〜なのだから、〜を考えると、ゆえに

＊ 理由を示す接続詞 since などに比較すると less formal になります。

＊ to see = to understand,  know, or  realize

　理解している、分かっている、認識している

It must be of importance to accustom young people to it [sc. vegetable  diet], seeing it'sinfluence is..so happy on beauty of person and tranquillity  of soul.

　若者を野菜食に慣れさせるのは重要だ。と言うのは、その影響は人々の健康と魂の平静さにとても喜ばしいからだ。

Seeing as I cannot fail to do that I have engaged in a pursuit.

　必ず自分はそれが出来ると考えて、それの追及に没頭し続けてきた訳だ。

= Considering I can surely do that, I have engaged in apursuit.

cf. can't fail to do

　それをし損じる筈が無い

= can surely do 必ずそれが出来る

cf. without fail

・ always

I go to the gym every Monday  and Wednesday, without fail.

　月水はいつもきっかりジムに通う習慣だ。

・ used to tell someone that 　they must do something:

Be there at nine o'clock, 　without fail.

　必ずそこに９時に来いよ。

Which isn't to be wondered at, seeing that he has just finished six weeks  of  examination  work.

　　彼が丁度６週間の試験作業を終えたばかりであることを考えると、どれを驚くことがあろう？

　 （isn't to be  = doesn't  have to be　〜する必要が無い）

I suppose-seeing as how we've both been let down-you wouldn't  care to  come in with me?

　我々は共に煮え湯を飲まされた訳だから、君は私と一緒には（仕事、計画に）入りたくはないのでは？

cf. don't care to do,  wouldn't care to do 　〜したくない、遣りたくない

Seeing as how you're always short of £sd, I thought you  could maybe  earn  a bit.

　君が常にスーダンポンドに不足していることを考えると、君が多分少しは稼げるだろうと思ったのだ。

= Since you're always short of £sd, I thought you could  maybe  earn  a bit.

We may as well go to the concert, seeing that we've already  paid for the    tickets.

　既にチケット代を支払って居るんだから、コンサートには行く方がいいね。

cf. after seeing that   〜と言う事を知ったあとで、見た後で

After seeing that the Cessna had touched down, the controller gave   instruction for the  Cessna to exit the runway and contact.

　そのセスナ機が着陸したのを知り、管制官はセスナ機に滑走路を出て通話する様指示を出した。

＊may as well do A as do B で、Ｂするぐらいなら Ａする方がまだいいよ、の意味です。

・used for suggesting something when you cannot think of  anything better  to do

（そうする以外に良い手が無いので）そうした方が良いと勧める

＊well= in as good, efficient, 　satisfactory way

 良い、効率的な、満足いく遣り方で

→ may （だろう、推量）+ as well →（他よりは）まだ満足だろう →した方がいい

　上の文章では、

We may as well go to the concert, as not go to the concert  の後半が省略されています。

　既にチケット代を支払って居るんだから、（行かないよりは）コンサートには行く方がいいね。

We should naturally go to the consert because we've already  paid for the    tickets.

　オレたちチケット代支払ってんだから出掛けて当然だ、に比べると消去法的発想での物言いです。

We may as well start the meeting - the others will be here  soon.

　他の者達がここに直到着するからミーティングを始めた方がいいだろう。

I may as well go with you ? I don't have anything else to do.

　僕は君と一緒に行った方がいいかな？　他に遣ることも何もないし。

・there is no reason  you 　should not do something

　そうすべきではない理由は全く無い

→〜するのもまた良い、そうして当然だ、した方が良い、のやや強い意味が派生します。

≒　should

He thought he might as well strive to promote his own ends.

　自分自身の目的を高めようと努力するのもまた良い事だと彼は思った。

cf. strive to do 〜しようと努力する

cf. promote = to raise to a more important or responsible  job or rank

　より重要な或いは責任のある仕事、地位に高める、昇進させる

You really may as well let me  have a little food.

= You really should let me  have a little food.

　俺に少しぐらい食べ物を寄越さないないつう理由は無いだろう？

cf. may (very) well do,  may (very) easily do

�@ used for saying that something is fairly likely to be true  or is fairly likely 　to happen

　多分起こりそうだ、本当にあり得そうだ、多分〜だろう

= be likely to do

＊well = used to denote the possibility or likelihood of an  occurrence or  fact

　この well は、出来事が起きる、コトが真実であり得る可能性、蓋然性を示す用法です。＜あり得る＞の意味の wellな訳です。

→ may （だろう、推量）+ well →あり得るだろう

She may well not want to  travel alone.

彼女は多分一人では旅行したくないのだろう。

= She is likely no to want to  travel alone.

What you say may very well  be true.

　君の言う事は本当にあり得そうだ。

A small technical error may easily result in a serious  accident.

　小さな技術上の間違いは十分に重大な事故に繋がり得る。

= It is lkely that a small technical error should result in a  serious accident.

It may well be that the  information is not available.

　情報は入手出来なさそうだ。

= The information is not l ikely to be available.

�A used to say that there is a good reason for a reaction,  question, or  feeling

　他の者の反応、質問、感情に対して、そう言うのももっともだ、良い反応、質問、感情だと言う

＊well = rightly, properly もっともだ

‘What’s all the noise?’ ‘You  may well ask.’

　一体あの騒音はなんだい？　良く聞いてくれたぜ。

Who is Danny Baker, you may  well ask?

　Danny Baker で誰と君が問うのももっともだ。

You may well ask if such  precision is really necessary!

　そんな正確さが本当に必要なのかと君が疑問に思うのももっともだ。

The student may well ask what is the solution to this  problem.

　その学生が何がその問題の解決となるのか尋ねるのはもっともでしょう。

= The student  rightly asks what is the solution to this  problem.

= The student has a good reason to ask what is the solution  to this  problem.

But why write a novel, you may well ask, when we were  aiming to make a  movie?

　君がそう尋ねるのももっともと思うけど、映画製作を目指していたと言うのになぜ小説を書くかだよ？

We may well ask: where shall I begin in teaching a brand new  congregation?

　まっさらな信者達に教えるに際してどこから始めるべきのか、と尋ねるのはもっともなことです。

She may well be proud of her 　son.

　（何かの事実、発言に対して）　彼女が自分の息子を自慢に思うのももっともな訳だ。

＊この用法の may well は、他の者が発する疑問に対して、そいつは良い質問だ、君がそう疑問に思うのも当たり前、もっともだと答えるシーンで多用されます。

＊上の文例を見ても、 may well ask が多いですね。この様な遣り取りのシーン以外の用例では、lekely の意味と考えたらよいでしょう。

＊may as well の well  =  satisfactorily　満足だ

  may well の well 　  = likely　あり得る, または、rightly もっともだ

　　ですね。

　すぐにそれぞれ、should, likely, rightly で置き換えると理解し易いでしょう。
